The
Treasure Coast Lionfish Safari is our area’s tournament aimed at reducing the
number of invasive lionfish in our coastal waters and bringing this delicious,
edible fish to your table!
This event will succeed in gathering research information for
local scientists, reduce the numbers of this invasive species, and encourage
sportsman to take an active hand in protecting the unique and diverse ecosystem
we have right at our doorstep. It will also encourage a commercial market to be
developed for this sustainable seafood!
During this tournament teams will be awarded cash and prizes for
lionfish they capture and remove from the estuaries and reefs in the waters of
Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin Counties.
